Walk Around San Francisco

Wednesday, May 30, 2012. Taking photos and snacking around downtown and into Pier 14.

The main reason for my travel to San Francisco was mainly to buy a few supplies from Blick! So I decided to stay with my sister to make the trip worthwhile.

2:30PM

The day started by an awkward walk through Belden Place, which was supposed to be like this European Style alley of restaurants.

It was just strange because the pathway was narrow and the hosts were asking if we wanted to eat, but we were simply just walking through.

With the lights on at night, this place would definitely be a very pretty and slightly hidden place!

Hungry and craving froyo, we found a place close by called Caffe Ambrosia (yelp).

2:59PM

Just went with a simple tiramisu yogurt, which was about $3 for a small size (they also have a junior size, which is perfect for one person). Really simple, but the texture and flavor was delicious. A little on the sweet side, but still satisfying!

Onward to photoshooting around the Metreon!

4:11PM

We really wanted to find a secluded area to do some crazy jumping shots, but never found any.

We were supposed to hit up Blick next, but since we were starving already, we headed for dinner at this Japanese curry place called Kare-Ken. We actually got there before opening time, but they let us in anyways! First customers for dinner! It was also good since there weren’t many seats inside anyways.

5:15PM

The seating was like a bar. Eight seats in front of the employees. I got the chicken katsu. The meat was delicious! Wasn’t really a fan of the veggies, but the chicken definitely was delicious. The curry was pretty good as well! I love how it was in a separate container! Definitely made it enough curry for the entire meal and not have anything all soggy! The curry wasn’t as creamy and rich as I like it though. Not sure if I’d come back since it was just a small shop and in a creepy area as in like shady people walking past it. But for a quick meal togo, this place is great.

Went to Blick afterwards. I thought I took a few pictures, but I must have been too preoccupied looking at brushes and paper that I didn’t take any. I walked out with two new brushes, two small watercolor sketchbooks, and a plastic pan though! Excited to use them!

Then it was off to Pier 14! Second time!

7:44PM

A police on a motorcycle rode down the end. Not sure why, but it was interesting seeing it ride down the pier.
7:52PM

Beautiful sunset. My sister was actually on the phone, but she did some poses. I think it really helped keep the photo very natural.

Sat and waited for the sun to fully go down. We were just about to leave since it would have taken awhile for the night to go completely dark, but it got dark enough so we took a few shots.

8:52PM

Tried out a different style of photography with flash at night.

I really love simply walked around San Francisco. So many interesting people, buildings, and just things to look at. So much life going on in the city! I look forward to doing it again sometime! I just need to learn to wield my camera better by being more confident with taking shots in public.
